Carpinteria’s softball team upped its record to 7-2 on Wednesday thanks to a 9-1 non-league victory at Channel Islands.
Catalina Maldonado pitched a complete game for the Warriors to get the victory, striking out 11 batters while walking none. Maldonado added two hits at the plate to help out her own cause.
Roxanne Hugo scored three runs for the Warriors on two hits that included a solo home run. Tatiana Verdugo and Myriah Diaz also recorded two hits each for Carpinteria, which now heads into Frontier League play on a winning note.
“It was a good bounce-back game for us,” said Warriors head coach Henry Gonzales, referring to last week’s 4-1 loss to Fillmore.
