Senior center Lizzie Rouleau earned her second consecutive First Team All-Big West honor it was announced on Wednesday morning by the conference. Additionally, junior utility Christie Clark was named to the All-Big West Second Team and freshman goalkeeper Ruth Milne was awarded with Honorable Mention All-Big West accolades.
Rouleau and Clark led the Gauchos with 37 goals apiece during the 2010 season and were tied for 11th in the Big West with their average of 1.23 goals per game.

Rouleau had ten multiple-goal outings, including five games with a hat trick or more, and scored in five of the Gauchos’ final six contests. Additionally, she led the team in ejections earned, creating over 70 six-on-five opportunities for UCSB. Rouleau finished her four-year career at UCSB as the 10th most prolific scorer in school history after tallying 101 career goals.
Clark returned to the pool this year after redshirting the 2009 season and did not miss a beat. The Atherton, Calif. native scored in 26 of the Gauchos’ 30 contests this season, opening the season with a 10-game scoring streak and ending the year with a six-game streak. She posted eight multiple-goal games, including three hat tricks. She finished the season ranked third on the team for steals and ejections earned. The utility player currently ranks seventh all-time in the UCSB record books with her 116 career goals.
Milne made an immediate impact on the Gaucho defense as a true freshman. The goalkeeper started all but three contests for UCSB and collected 275 saves, which is a single-season school record; surpassing Katelyn Henry’s previous record of 249 saves set in 1999. Her average of 10.39 saves per game ranked second in the Big West and her 7.56 goals against average ranked third. The Redwood City, Calif. native tallied double-digit saves on 14 occasions, including a career-best 17 in the sudden victory win over Long Beach State in the opening round of the Big West Tournament.
UCSB ended the season with an 18-12 overall record, marking only the second time in program history that the team has posted consecutive winning seasons (the first time was 2005 and 2006). The Gauchos finished the Big West regular season with a 3-2 record, which tied UC Irvine for third. The Gauchos carried the third seed into the conference tournament where they finished fourth last Sunday.
