The beat goes on for Buena

Buena’s softball team was able to parlay a four-run second inning into a 9-4 Channel League win over San Marcos on Thursday as the two teams made up Tuesday’s rainout.

The Royals took a 1-0 in the first inning when Hannah Ball knocked in Chelsea Friedman with an RBI base hit. But an error in the outfield allowed the Bulldogs to rally with four unearned runs in the second inning.

Friedman knocked in Jocelyn Flattery, who went 3-for-3 with a triple, in the fifth inning to get a run back and Ball added two more RBIs in the seventh inning, but not before the Bulldogs built leads of 7-1 and 9-2.

Dani Millan and Kelsey Phipps stroked solo home runs for Buena, which is undefeated in league play at 5-0.

The Royals travel to Buena on Friday for the two teams’ last meeting this season.
