San Marcos’ boys golf team dispatched Ventura 378-396 on Tuesday, creating a three-way tie for first-place in the Channel League.
Royals teammates Dodge Ward and Thayer White shared medalist honors, each posting a one-under 71 at Sandpiper.
San Marcos, which improves to 8-2, 3-1, shares the same league record with Santa Barbara and Buena. The Royals travel to Montecito Country Club on Thursday to play the Dons in a pivotal league matchup.
The Royals’ team score could have been even better on Tuesday, but they slipped 15 strokes over the final four holes.
Dustin Dalee filled in nicely for the injured John Etsell. Dalee posted an 83 to compliment Kyle Rieb’s 76 and Scott Bradford’s 77.
