San Marcos’ boys tennis team posted a 13-5 non-league victory over Thacher on Friday, benefiting from the Toads resting their starting singles players after the first round.
Thacher’s starting three swept their opening sets before giving way to subs with the idea of keeping their legs fresh for Saturday’s Condor League match with Cate. San Marcos took advantage, winning the final six sets in singles.
Travis Enholm and Jackson Foster had zero problems as a doubles team, taking three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Nik Kilpelainen and Jackson Mann also swept three sets in doubles.
The Royals move up to 8-3 on the season and return to Channel League play on Monday against Ventura.
