Joe Gottwald had 14 kills and three blocks on Friday, but the Cate boys volleyball team fell to visiting Mission Prep 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22.
Stu Engs added nine kills while Michael Castenda had seven kills with three blocks. Houston Bradley chipped in six kills and three aces.
It was a non-league game, so coach Dan Terry said he shuffled the lineup in each game to try some various things, and that overall his team played well.
