Grace Brethren edged Carpinteria’s softball team in its Frontier League opener on Thursday, using a single run in the third inning to top the Warriors 1-0.
Catalina Maldonado pitched a complete game for the Warriors, striking out eight without a walk. Kassy Dunn picked up the win for Grace Brethren, which improves to 2-0 in league while Carpinteria stands at 0-1 and 7-3 overall.
Maldonado did not allow an earned run, as an error helped Grace score its run.
Carmen Campi recorded a triple for the Warriors as did the Lancers’ Danielle Fletcher.
The Warriors play at Bishop Diego on Tuesday.
