Laguna Blanca used 18 aces to sweep future Condor League-foe Cornerstone Christian on Wednesday, 25-10, 25-23, 25-23.
Jack Stegall had nine kills, and coach Bobby Sanchez said he played his best match of the year. Spencer Dusebout had nine of the Owls’ aces and Parker Lilly had seven kills with two blocks.
“Hopefully this will follow through to Friday’s match against Windward, because they’re a tough, undefeated opponent,” said Sanchez.
After that, it’s a rematch at rival Cate on Saturday. The Rams defeated the Owls in five sets a couple of weeks ago, and Laguna (5-4) needs to win to share the league title.
“It’s always big playing Cate. Losing in five at our place was very disheartening,” said Sanchez.
Cornerstone Christian will join the Condor League next year.
