Maldonado makes Royals feel extra-blue

San Marcos couldn’t get anything going against Carpinteria’s Catalina Maldonado on Friday, resulting in a 9-1 non-league victory for the Warriors.

Maldonado pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts while only giving up two hits and a walk.

“She was in total command throughout,” said Warriors head coach Henry Gonzalez, whose team improves to 10-7 on the season.

Carpinteria’s Myriah Diaz blasted a three-run home run in the second inning, making it nine RBIs for the catcher in the last two games.

San Marcos (6-11) returns to Channel League play next week with a pair against Dos Pueblos.
