Westmont athletes claimed two event titles at the GSAC Track and Field Championships on the Warriors’ new facility on Saturday.
In men’s competition, Brent Lagace captured the javelin with a toss of 223 feet, 7 inches. Teammate Andrew Kolodinski finished second with a mark of 212-06.
Kasey Kearin won the women’s long jump with a leap of 18-1 3/4. She finished second in the triple jump at 38 3/4.
Azusa Pacific took the women’s team title with 213 points. Point Loma was a distant second with 175 points followed by Fresno Pacific (149.50), Biola (123), Westmont (67), Concordia (61.50), Vanguard (54) and The Master’s (6).
Point Loma ran away with the men’s team championship with 202 points. Fresno Pacific was second with 168 points. Azusa Pacific (158.50) took third and Westmont (77) came in fourth. Rounding out the field were Vanguard (69), Concordia (58.50), Biola (58), The Master’s (31) and Cal Baptist (28).
Other top Westmont results included a second place by Eric Williams in the 800 (1:58.47); Jacob Goodin, third in the 1500 (3:56.51); a second by the men’s 4×800 relay (8:07.64); a third by the men’s 4×400 relay team (3:25.60) and a fifth by Kristin Hempy in the heptathlon.
