Harris, Altavilla nip Cougars for Chargers

Dos Pueblos’ softball team collected a Channel League win on Tuesday in its final at-bat, making for a thrilling finish to a 1-0 victory for the Chargers over visiting Ventura.

Hannah Harris slapped a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning that scored Amber Altavilla from second base for the game’s only run. Dos Pueblos tallied only four hits in the game on offense, two coming from Agnetta Cleland and another from Chloe Madill.

Harris held Buena to only three hits and struck out seven while walking only one batter in the shutout.

The Chargers pull themselves into a second-place tie with the Cougars in league with a 3-2 record. The same two teams will decide who holds onto second place on Friday in their final matchup of the season.

Courtnie Snyder pitched a complete game for Ventura.

First, Dos Pueblos travels to Pacifica on Wednesday for a game considered part of the Pacific View Tournament.
