Grajeda gives up just one hit to Warriors

St. Bonaventure’s Josh Grajeda had the right stuff on Wednesday, shutting down Carpinteria’s visiting baseball team 3-1 for a Tri-Valley League victory.

Grajeda allowed just one unearned run to improve his record to 5-0 on the season.

Victor Garcia recorded the Warriors only hit, a single in the third inning. That was the same inning that Carpinteria scored its one run, made possible by an error with two outs that allowed Stephen Blum to score from second base.

Blum pitched a complete game for the Warriors. Head coach Pat Cooney thought it was Blum’s best showing of the season even though the senior right-hander took the loss.

Blum struck out five in six innings of work while only walking one.

The victory is the Seraphs’ seven league win of the season without a loss while the Warriors fall to 4-5 with three games to play. The two teams complete their two-game series on Friday at Carpinteria.
