DP finishes SLO tourney with 8-5 win

Freshman Ben York had a breakout performance, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI as the Dos Pueblos baseball team finished up the San Luis Obispo Spring Break Tournament with an 8-5 win over San Ramon Valley.

Bradley Tirador made his second start in three days and was solid through three-and-a-third innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. Gabe Speier came on in relief before Joe Huthsing pitched the sixth and seventh innings for the save.

Huthsing had two wins and a save over the 3-day tournament, while also collecting seven hits. In Thursday night’s 11-4 win over Green Valley, he struck out eight and gave up just two hits in four innings.

York wasn’t the only big bat for DP on Friday, as Porfiro Avila and Steven Reveles each had two hits including a double. On Thursday, both Reveles and Corey Micheel hit triples.

DP went 3-1 in the tourney and is 7-8 overall. The Chargers play at Ventura on Tuesday.
