A shuffling of the lineup didn’t stop Dos Pueblos’ boys tennis team from routing Oxnard on Monday, as the Chargers defeated the Yellowjackets 14-4.
The Chargers were missing several starting players and also were a tad rusty coming back from spring break. DP head coach Liz Frech said the rust fell off quickly and the Chargers looked strong, especially in doubles where they won eight of nine sets.
DP’s top doubles team of Eric Katz and Sean Simpson swept three sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-0. Austin Cano and Christian Edstrom took two sets each in singles to balance out the attack.
Oxnard’s Ethan Lopez was the only Yellowjacket to give Dos Pueblos any serious problems, taking two of his three sets in singles.
Dos Pueblos improves to 8-4 overall before another non-league contest on Wednesday at Cate. The Chargers are 2-2 in Channel League play but don’t return to league play until next week. Oxnard falls to 4-1.
