Santa Barbara High’s baseball team rode an eight-game win streak onto the L.A. Times’ Top-25 list for high school baseball teams in Southern California, appearing in the weekly rankings for the first time this season.
The Dons (12-1-1) are in the No. 17 spot after winning the Righetti Tournament last week. Santa Barbara posted victories over No. 5 Royal(then No. 3), Deer Valley, Pioneer Valley and Lompoc by a combined score of 44-16.
Santa Barbara has a chance to avenge its only loss of the season this week with two Channel League games against crosstown rival San Marcos.
Crespi, Lakewood, Bishop Amat, Redlands East Valley and Royal hold the top-five spots.
