Santa Barbara High’s Briggs Deardorff reached the top of the podium twice on Saturday at the Don Green Invitational in Moorpark, with his time in the 1600-meter being a personal best.
Deardorff completed the 1600 in just under four minutes and 28 seconds while beating the field in the 3200 in 9:52.71
The Dons girls were victorious in the 4×100 relay thanks to a team consisting of Liz Cutbirth, Erika Berglund, Brittany Couture and Briana Lopez. Their time was 51.90. Makeda Pekle-Smith took a spot on the girls 4×400 relay team that finished third, joining Lopez, Cutbirth and Berglund.
The boys 4×400 team did equally well, placing third with a time of 3:40.99. That team consisted of Chris Robinson, Nathaniel Taylor, Sean Urbany and Gabriel Gonzalez.
Santa Barbara has a league meet on Wednesday with Dos Pueblos followed by Saturday’s County Championships.
