Dons blow by Cleveland for eleventh straight

Santa Barbara High’s baseball team made it 11 straight victories, defeating Cleveland 10-1 on Saturday at El Camino High as part of the Chatsworth Tournament.

The Dons, who play Granada Hills and host Chatsworth on the following two Saturdays to complete tournament play, are now 15-1-1 on the season.

Starting pitcher Alex Spatz got the decision for Santa Barbara after tossing five shutout innings. Trey Barrett came on in relief and pitched the sixth and seventh innings to close out the game.

The Dons were ahead and in control from the outset, scoring three times in each of the first two innings to take a 6-0 lead.

Joey Gonzales and Kees t’Sas recorded three hits each while Pepe Gil drove in three runs on two hits.

Santa Barbara faces a home-and-away Channel League series with Dos Pueblos this week before playing Granada Hills on Saturday.
