Thursday’s Frontier League victory was a long time coming for Bishop Diego’s boys golf team.
The Cardinals claimed their first league-tournament victory in over 20 years by carding a combined round of 454, beating out second-best Grace Brethren’s 459.
Scott Grimes was Bishop’s low scorer, tallying an 85, followed by Garrett Garcia’s 89. All five of the Cardinal scorers were under 95 as Jun Huh(91), Anthony Pell(94) and Hayden Slaught(95) filled out Bishop’s scorecard.
Not only did they get the victory on Thursday but the Cardinals moved into a first-place tie with Grace Brethren and Nordhoff in league.
The Lancers’ Cameron Dishman was medalist with a round of 78.
The match was played at Rancho San Marcos.
