Warriors pull out comeback win in extras

Diego Carrillo hit a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh and Victor Garcia got a walk-off hit in the eighth as the Carpinteria baseball team took down visiting Malibu 4-3 in their Tri-Valley League matchup on Tuesday.

“All these early season wins in league count just as much as the ones in the end,” said coach Pat Cooney.

Colton Rubio got the start and scattered seven singles over six innings before Robert Thornton came in and pitched two hitless innings to win the game.

The eighth inning began with an 8-pitch walk to Jose Carrillo, who was then called out at second on a fielder’s choice which put Steven Blum on first. Blum then stole second and was moved over on a groundout by Chris Macias. Garcia then got the game-winning hit.

Carpinteria (6-3, 2-1 TVL) plays at Malibu (3-6, 1-2) on Thursday.
