Westmont’s women’s basketball team nearly pulled off one of the biggest victories in school history on Monday night in Costa Mesa, falling just short of a Golden State Athletic Conference championship in a 68-66 defeat at Concordia.
It was only the second time the Warriors had reached the GSAC title game.
Westmont held a 63-59 lead with 1:56 on the clock but the Eagles were able to connect on three 3-pointers in the final two minutes to grab control of the game. Two of the 3-pointers came from Diana Neves, who finished with 13 points.
Alisha Heglund led Westmont in scoring with 23 points while senior Amber Stevens recorded 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
