Dodge Ward fired an 81 to earn medalist honors and lead the San Marcos golf team to a 445-478 win over Hart on Wednesday in extremely windy conditions at par-72 San Marcos Golf Course.
Robby MacFarlane was the only other golfer for either squad to break 90, finishing with an 88.
“The wind was blowing a constant 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45, forcing players to hit driver on most of the par 3’s — including holes 11 and 18, which play 175 yards downhill normally,” said coach Dave Siordia.
Scott Bradford, John Etsell and Kyle Rieb shot 91, 92 and 93 respectively for the Royals, while Taylor Simson led Hart with a 91.
Next up for San Marcos is the three-way Oak Park tournament at North Ranch CC.
