Vaqueros turned off in nightcap

Kailey Snyder and Nicole Adair each went 2-for-3 in Tuesday’s first game at Ventura, leading SBCC to a 4-2 softball triumph. The Vaqueros (18-11, 5-5) lost the nightcap of the WSC Gold Division doubleheader 2-0.

Adair had a two-run triple in the fourth that put the visitors ahead 4-1. Snyder, who had a double and triple, held the Pirates to three hits in the final three innings. Liliana Caughman got the win to improve to 4-1, allowing two runs on four hits in the first four innings.

Jasmyne Holmes, the Vaqueros second baseman, lost a flyball in the sun on the second batter and the ball hit her in the left eye. She received four stiches in her eyelid.

The Vaqueros will host Oxnard on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
