Dos Pueblos gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and it cost the Chargers in a 3-2 Channel League girls softball loss at Ventura.
Both of Ventura’s runs in the sixth inning were unearned, spoiling the Chargers’ bid for their first win in their league opener. DP’s Kristen Kolegraff tripled in the top of the seventh but was called out at the plate trying to extend it to an inside the park home run.
Ashlynd Williams smacked a first inning home run to give DP an early 1-0 lead and Agnetta Cleland scored a run in the top of the fifth to put DP back up 2-1.
Hannah Harris struck out seven in a complete game for Dos Pueblos.
The Chargers (0-5, 0-1) showed signs of breaking out of a season-long scoring slump, getting two runs for the first time in five games.
