SBCC had a tough day in windy conditions on Monday at Valencia CC, placing fifth in the WSC No. 3 tournament and seventh in the 15-team Canyons Invitational.
Jesse Ferris shot a 3-over-par 75, Albert Corral 81 and Mike Levine 82 for the Vaqueros. Canyons won both titles at 379, beating Orange Coast by 11 in the Invitational and Ventura by 20 in the WSC meet.
Canyons and Ventura share the WSC lead at 16-2, followed by Bakersfield (11-7), SBCC (7-11) and Hancock (7-11).
“It was real windy and it was an extremely long round,” said Vaquero coach Chuck Melendez. “We’re very disappointed right now. I hope this is the low point of our season and we can turn it around.”
The Vaqueros will host the North-South Invitational on Sunday and Monday in Paso Robles.
