Kailey Snyder tossed a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the second game on Tuesday, helping SBCC earn a split of a WSC Gold Division softball doubleheader at Oxnard. The Condors won the first game 1-0 and the Vaqueros took the nightcap 4-2.
SBCC (9-5, 1-2) was held to three hits in the first game while Sara Gazzaniga tossed a four-hitter. Candice Amara’s one-out homer in the sixth was the difference.
Jasmyne Holmes went 3-for-3 in the second game while Snyder was 2-4 with an RBI. Snyder allowed six singles with 10 strikouts and no walks. First baseman Kellee Venturi snapped a 2-2 tie in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Laura Cannon and Janelle Wong drove in Joan Cannon with another single.
“We’re still struggling at the plate,” said coach Paula Congleton. “Our pitchers and defense and doing a phenomenal job. We need to turn the offense around and start scoring like we did in our first two games (when they piled up 24 runs).”
