SBCC right-hander Greg Selarz continued to sparkle on Saturdays, holding Cuesta to no earned runs in a 9-1 WSC North baseball victory in San Luis Obispo.
Selarz went eight innings, allowing six hits with two strikeouts and two walks. He’s 4-0 on the year and 3-0 on Saturdays.
“Justin Aspegren (the pitching coach) said it was one of the easier games he’s called because Greg was throwing everything for strikes,” said coach Teddy Warrecker. “His command was superior.”
Taylor Lyons went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs for the Vaqueros (13-9, 6-3), who are tied for second with Hancock in the WSC North, one game behind Oxnard (7-2). Daniel Howell was 2-4 with a pair of RBIs and Tommy White delivered a two-run triple during a four-run uprising in the third.
SBCC turned three double plays on the way to its sixth win in seven games.
The Vaqueros will play three games in three days in the Channel Coast Tournament, starting with Porterville on Tuesday and L.A. Valley on Wednesday. Both games are at Pershing Park at 2:30 p.m.
