Abe Ruiz drilled a pair of homers and drove in three runs Tuesday, guiding SBCC to an 11-6 baseball win at Moorpark. Conner Rehage hit his WSC-leading eighth homer — a two-run shot in the fifth — to put the Vaqueros ahead 10-0.
Ruiz unloaded a solo shot in the third and a two-run blast in the fifth. He’s homered three times in the last two games, raising his season total to seven. Rehage drove in three runs while Danny Cavaletto went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Vaqueros (9-8, 2-2 WSC), who piled up 11 runs and 16 hits for the second straight game.
SBCC has 27 homers in 17 games and the pitching staff has only allowed seven.
“Our offense was great but we still have a long way to go on defense,” said coach Teddy Warrecker, whose team commited three errors.
Zach Edgington (2-2) got the victory, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and five walks. DJ Gunderson was strong in relief, giving up one single in 1 2/3 innings and getting a ground-ball double play to end the game.
The Vaqueros travel to Ventura on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. game.
