Carpinteria sophomore Colton Rubio pitched a complete-game shutout on Wednesday as the Warriors took care of visiting Fillmore 7-0 in their Tri-Valley League opener.
Rubio allowed six hits and a walk while striking out five. Robert Thornton had a pair of doubles and three RBis, while Diego Carrillo was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
The Warriors (5-2, 1-0) play at Fillmore (5-4, 0-1) on Friday.
