San Marcos’ softball team wasn’t so much trigger happy on Thursday as it was triple-happy, using two triples in the bottom of the fifth inning to come from behind and defeat visiting Bishop Diego 4-3.
The Royals score all four runs with two outs, powered by RBI triples from Jenise Fretz and Corinne Yingling. A wild pitch then scored Yingling from third with the go-ahead run.
Bishop recorded 11 hits to San Marcos’ five.
“We were able to never let them have a big inning. They had their chances,” said Royals head coach Alex Sheldon.
Kelly McKay (2-2) took the win for San Marcos, which improves to 4-5 on the year.
