San Marcos’ Thayer White and Dodge Ward went under par on Wednesday to lead the Royals to a 378-383 victory over Mira Costa at La Cumbre Country Club.
The Royals (1-1) bettered their team score by 12 strokes from their season-opener on Monday, when they lost to these same Monarchs by 23 shots. Not only that, head coach Dave Siordia said it was the lowest score at La Cumbre for the Royals in several years.
Scott Bradford carded a 77 and John Estel followed right behind at 78.
San Marcos plays next on Friday with Channel League rivals Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch in a five-way tournament hosted by Santa Ynez.
