Carpinteria’s Manny Rodriguez led his team in scoring and rebounding just about every game this season and took a well-deserved spot on the Tri-Valley League’s first team in boys basketball.
Oak Park’s Steven Brodie was named league MVP while Oaks Christian’s head coach Tom Roanhaus is Coach of the Year. The Eagles and Lions shared the title with 9-1 records.
Trevor Madden made the second team and John Bustillos was an honorable mention for their efforts stepping up in the absence of would-be all-leaguer Kevin Lusterio, who suffered a season-ending injury at the beginning of league play.
Carpinteria finished with an 11-14 record, losing in the first round of CIF playoffs to Pacific Hills.
