Nasty wind bothers both Chargers, Spartans

The wind and the cold got to the Dos Pueblos and Rio Mesa golf teams on Tuesday, causing each team to shoot season highs in a 432-463 Chargers victory at Spanish Hills Country Club.

The tricky conditions led DP to shoot 51 strokes higher than the day before, when it carded a 381 at Glen Annie against Oxnard. Of the 108 holes played by DPs six golfers on Tuesday, the Chargers recorded only three birdies.

“It was super windy, cold… nobody played well,” said Chargers head coach Rob Schiff. “It was very tough scoring conditions.”

Carson Curtis was medalist for the second straight day, finishing with an 80. Nick DeHaris and Tynan Daniels posted DP’s second-best score at 87, while Michael Yi posted an 88.

Dos Pueblos improves to 5-2 on the season and is off until next Monday when they host this same Rio Mesa team at Glen Annie. The Chargers begin Channel League play the next day at Ventura.
