Miles Evans recorded 21 kills and Pete Aronchick added 18 for SBCC on Friday night but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 26-30, 30-26, 30-26, 30-24 men’s volleyball loss at Moorpark.
Andrew Thomason made 21 digs while Kaahukane Leite-AhYo had 54 assists for the Vaqueros (7-5, 2-3 WSC).
“We had a good rhythm in the first game,” noted coach Melody Parker. “In the fourth game, we let a 12-6 lead slip away on unforced errors. They’re not as big as us but they’re quick and they put up a good block.”
Leite-AhYo, Aronchick and Justin Hertlein had two aces apiece.
SBCC opens the second round of WSC play on Wednesday at L.A. Pierce.
