Lions lash out at Cardinals

Bishop Diego’s boys volleyball team took a 25-18, 25-16, 25-14 hit from Oaks Christian on Thursday,  dropping a Tri-Valley League contest at the Brickhouse.

Cardinals head coach Joe Reiken had hoped his team would fare better against the Lions but the youth of his squad showed.

“We definitely suffered with a breakdown in fundamentals,” Reiken said. “We never really found our rhythm tonight.”

There weren’t a ton of hitting opportunities, but Johnny Brand and Spencer Shull tallied 10 kills between them.

Bishop Diego (1-4, 1-5) has a non-league match on Wednesday against St. Joseph’s before taking on Fillmore on Thursday.
