Hong goes undefeated but Owls drop opener

Top singles player Max Hong went 3-0 but the Laguna Blanca boys tennis team lost its season-opener against visiting Nordhoff on Friday, 11-7.

“He played really well today and had an excellent match with their No. 1 player,” said coach Trevor Thorpe. “We were strong in some of our singles matches struggled in doubles.”

After going 3-11 last year, Thorpe sees room for lots of improvement this season.

“I can already tell that there’s a lot of potential to do better than last season. I think we’re a .500-team at least and it’s just a matter of time until things come together,” he said.
