Hancock scored the go-ahead run on a squeeze bunt in the top of the ninth on Thursday and went on edge SBCC 4-3 in a WSC North baseball game at Pershing Park.
Daniel Howell tied it at 3 with a solo homer in the eighth. It was his second round-tripper in two games and sixth on the year. The Vaqueros (12-9, 5-3) had their five-game win streak snapped and are now tied for second with Hancock.
It was just the third loss in the last 17 home games, dating back to last season. SBCC is 7-3 at Pershing this year.
Tommy White went 3-5, Taylor Lyons was 2-4 with an RBI single and Chris Lauritzen had a run-scoring triple. DJ Gunderson allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts in three innings of relief.
“Give credit to (Cody) Berryman, he held us to two runs in six innings,” said coach Teddy Warrecker. “They executed in the ninth to win it.”
The Vaqueros will travel to Cuesta on Saturday at 1 p.m.
