Flashes flourish against Warriors

Carpinteria answered, just not loud enough.

Fillmore and the Warriors both scored in each of the first three innings but Carpinteria couldn’t keep pace, falling 10-5 in a Tri-Valley League game on Friday.

The Warriors scored all five of their runs in the first three innings while allowing the Flashes to put up nine. Starting pitcher Victor Garcia was unable to survive the first inning, giving way to Zach Boberg.

Boberg went the rest of the way, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight and walking none. A season-high four errors from Carpinteria’s defense did not help the Warriors’ cause.

Boberg went was also effective at the plate, going three-for-four. Robert Thornton had two hits including a triple. Trevor Madden also had a triple for the Warriors and an RBI.

Carpinteria and Fillmore draw even with each other in the league standings with matching 1-1 records.  Carpinteria has two league games next week, starting with Malibu at home on Tuesday.
