Samantha Dougherty captured the 5000 meters on Friday in the 72nd annual Easter Relays Community College meet at La Playa Stadium, Dougherty, one of three winners for SBCC, ran 19:24.86 for the 10th-fastest time in school history.
The other winners for the Vaqueros in the 13-team meet were Matt Organista in the 5000m (15:41.40) and Chase Lee in the javelin (164-10 1/4). Garrett Edwards made it a 1-2 SBCC finish in the 5000m (15:50.34) and Aeryus Holloway took second in the triple jump (45-4 1/4).
The Vaquero women also had a pair of second-place efforts — Emelie Lundin in the 800 (2:26.29) and Chelsea Hewitt in the discus (111-0).
“The team had a really good time running in their home stadium with friends and family watching and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to show off our wonderful facility,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “Once again, the distance runners and field event athletes had some great performances.”
The Vaqueros return to action on April 9 in the WSC Coastal Meet at Ventura.
