Dos Pueblos pays Calabasas’ price

A still-coming-together Dos Pueblos boys tennis team was defeated in its season opener on Monday, falling to Calabasas 11-7 on the Chargers’ courts.

Sasha Gryaznov battered Calabasas for three set wins but the Chargers couldn’t muster enough wins without the services of starters Christian Edstrom and Eric Katz.

Andy Silverstein and Robert Laskin paired up as the only DP doubles team to win multiple sets, going 2-1. Austin Cano won his first set and took Calabasas’ Adam Shapiro to a tiebreaker in his second set before injuring his ankle.

The Chargers will look to Wednesday for their first victory when they host Cate, a CIF Division-IV semifinal team last year.
