Tyler Parent was a two-time winner on Thursday, tossing his way to victories in the shotput and discus in Santa Barbara’s Channel League opener at Ventura.
The Cougars dominated the Dons in team scores, but Parent’s day highlighted several strong performances from the Dons.
Parent went 43 feet, 1 inch in the shotput and 149 feet, 9 inches in the discus. Parent also leaped to third place in the high jump.
Briggs Deardorff brought the boys another victory in the two mile, finishing in 4:37.10. Chris Robinson was another top dog, grabbing first in the 400-meter.
Tess Emerson placed second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the high jump to pull in some points for the Dons girls team.
Santa Barbara is off until next Saturday’s Easter Relays at SBCC’s La Playa Stadium.
