Dos Pueblos’ boys golf team improved it record to 6-2 on the eve of its Channel League opener with a 395-404 victory over Rio Mesa on Monday at Glen Annie.
Sophomore Nick DeHaris earned medalist honors for the first time by posting a one-over 72. DeHaris scored three birdies on the back nine to reach the 18th under par but ran into trouble on the final hole and lost two strokes.
Lane Fuller, at 74, was the second-lowest scorer for the Chargers, who were without Michael Yi and Sean Dishman. Brett Patton(80), Tynan Daniels(83) and David Medina(86) rounded out Dos Pueblos’ round.
The Chargers begin a cutthroat league schedule on Tuesday against Ventura at Buenaventura golf course, then Santa Barbara on Thursday.
