Albert Corral and Jesse Ferris both shot 73 on Monday, leading the SBCC men’s golf team to a second-place finish in the North-South Invitational at Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles.
Ventura won the nine-team event with 751 strokes, eight better than the Vaqueros’ 759. College of the Desert, the first-day leader, took third at 760.
Corral and Ferris finished at 1-over-par 145, three shots behind the medalist, Paul Misko of Ventura (72-70).
“The conditions were a little tougher today with fog in the morning,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “That made the grass wet and the balls didn’t travel as far. It’s nice to get second place but the guys felt like they let one get away.”
SBCC returns to action on Monday in WSC No. 4 at the SCGA Course in Murrieta.
