Dos Pueblos picked up easy victories in boys and girls swimming on Tuesday, defeating visiting Ventura in the Channel League opener for both teams.
The DP girls racked up 117 points to Ventura’s 69 while the boys won 100-54.
The girls side was especially strong in the backstroke and breaststroke, sweeping each event. Sami Hill, Kiley Neushul and Paige Pighetti went 1-2-3 in the backstroke while Michelle Dockendorf, Cayley Cruickshank and Tiera Schroeder filled out the breast podium. Freshman Janelle Nguyen collected two victories in the 500 freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Nguyen won the 500-free by less than a second with a time of 5:13.78. Dockendorf also took first in the 200 IM.
The boys team swept the 100 fly, with Nolan Gardner, Darrell Eacret and Kevin Cappon finishing within two seconds of each other. Ventura’s fastest swimmer was more than nine seconds off Gardner’s leading time. Chase Racich dominated the freestyle sprints, taking the 50 and 100-yard races.
