Chargers need four to take care of Cougars

Dos Pueblos dropped its first game on Thursday before rebounding nicely, winning the next three to take its Channel League opener 22-25, 25-189, 25-18, 25-18 against Ventura.

Will McCracken led the Chargers with 18 kills and added three aces and two solo blocks. Robbie Mestas also reached double figures in kills in the middle with 11 while Michael Ellsworth sent back four solo blocks.

“It was all-around a good first league win against Ventura,” said Chargers coach Chris Hughes, who welcomed the public to Saturday’s DP Invitational at UCSB.

It’s the 35th edition and admission is free to see many of the area’s boys volleyball teams.
