Dos Pueblos’ boys volleyball team scored a season-opening victory on Wednesday night at Sovine Gym, posting a 25-18, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19 decision over Newbury Park.
Will McCracken cranked out a team-high 16 kills for the Chargers, while Robbie Mestas ruled the net with four solo blocks to go with seven kills. Libero Cole Arutian dug 15 balls on defense.
“Overall it was a very nice first match to get the first-game jitters out,” said Chargers head coach Chris Hughes, who liked the effort from Gabe Duncan, Matt Sims and Preston Mullan.
The Chargers (1-0) move on to play at Westlake on Monday.
