Flo Chardon swam three personal-best times on Tuesday as the San Marcos girls swimming team defeated visiting Oxnard 122-58. There were three personal-bests on the boys side, but San Marcos fell 113-59.
Chardon had personal-bests and placed second in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke as well as a personal-best time of 58.06 in the 400 free relay. Shannon Orr swam the 100 breast in a 1:16.75, a personal-record by two seconds.
“This is a big swim for her. It is clear evidence of her dedication to her improvement and commitment to her team,” said coach Brian Roth. “As a coach I could not be happier to see someone swim so well who deserves it so much.”
Ashley Wagner took second in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:32, and also first in the 100 back (1:09.54).
“Ashley swam great and will have a huge season. Today’s times are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Roth. “I believe she has tremendous potential and I am really excited about her upcoming season.”
On the boys side, Abhi Frandsen went a personal best in the 200 freestyle (2:07.93), Ben Battles in the 500 freestyle (6:14.59), and Sean Willhite in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.89).
“We had some good swims today, but we were lacking depth and didn’t swim as well as I think we can,” said coach Jeff Ashton.
