Robert Thornton, Jacob Franco and Victor Garcia III combined to pitch a 3-hit shutout on Tuesday for the Carpinteria baseball team in a 4-0 win over visiting Villanova.
“Pitching-wise, we’re still trying to figure out how all the pieces go together and the guys that threw today did a really nice job,” said coach Pat Cooney.
None of the three had pitched in Saturday’s season-opening double-header against Santa Ynez.
Offensively, Zach Boberg went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple to lead the way.
Carpinteria (2-1) plays a doubleheader at Cabrillo on Saturday.
