Bishop Diego took the second game of its home and away set with Malibu this week, claiming Friday’s game 6-5.
Cody Yokubaitis pitched a strong 5 and a third innings to get the victory for the Cardinals, striking out eight Sharks while giving up only three hits and one earned run.
“He pitched real well but we made three errors behind him,” said Cardinals head coach Casey Cloud.
Jack Gregson helped out at the plate, going 3-4 with two runs scored. Yokubaitis supported himself by going 2-3 with two RBIs.
Ryan Landeros came on in the sixth inning to relieve Yokubaitis and pitched a scoreless seventh to secure the victory, which evens Bishop’s record at 1-1 in league. The Cardinals are 3-5 overall.
