Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s powerhouse Under-12 boys team captured another elite title last weekend, claiming the Cal South National Championship in Lancaster.
SBSC defeated Cal Legends 1-0 in the tournament final after winning five matches to get there. In six victories Santa Barbara outscored its opponents 21-0.
“Winning a National Cup Tournament takes time and commitment from all players and this is a great group of young men who have a great work ethic and love playing soccer,” explained Head Coach Rudy Ybarra.
The tournament win gives SBSC a berth into the Far West Regional Tournament in Albuquerque this June, where the boys will face off against other National State champions.
The team consists of Tim Heiduk, Peter Bermant, Lalo Delgado, Benji Garcia, Francisco Arroyo, Jacob Blacker, Shea Blackman, Lucky Puengrod, Tanner Mees, Tony Andoyan, Raul Guerrero, Giovanny Acosta, Eric Contreras, Juan Pablo Alvarez and Carson Vom Steeg.
