The Santa Barbara Breakers have scheduled a non-league game for this Saturday, March 6, at Westmont’s Murchison Gym. Tip-off time is set for 1:30 p.m, and the opponent will be the Marina Del Rey Advantage.
Expected to play for the Breakers are guard Tim Taylor and veteran Allan Purnell, who’s recovering from knee surgery. President/Head Coach Curt Pickering is also excited about young 6-8 forward Charles Carter, a Pasadena resident and recent graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University.
“Charles Carter is as raw and talented as they come. He can touch the top of the square on the glass,” says Pickering.
The Breakers have also been window-shopping Mjumbe Williams and Vince Camper; two explosive guards who can play both the #1 and #2 positions. The Breakers recently won the L.A. Black History Tournament, victorious in four of five games.
Saturday’s contest is free to the public with donations being requested at the door. Proceeds will go to Santa Barbara Foster Children.
